Aerosol measurement at Aalen University
Collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences in Aalen Ostalb to research the risk of infection in enclosed spaces caused by viruses and bacteria.
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the global development of the SARS-CoV-2 infection highlighted that the pandemic could not be quickly contained. It became evident that a swift and comprehensive vaccination of the world population was not feasible to curb the spread of the virus. At this point, it was necessary to establish technical solutions to mitigate the pandemic. Face masks had already become widely recognized as an effective technical measure to reduce the risk of direct infection during breathing, talking, singing, coughing, and sneezing. However, face masks cannot prevent indirect infections caused by infectious aerosol particles accumulating in the air over time. To address this risk, tightly fitting particle-filtering respirators are required. Alternatively, aerosol particles in indoor spaces can be removed through filtration or ventilated out via open windows. Ventilation systems capable of reliably removing aerosol particles smaller than 1 μm in diameter are rare. Free ventilation through open windows is often inefficient and, by winter, becomes impractical due to energy loss and potential harm to human health and comfort. This raised the question of whether mobile air purifiers could play a significant role in reducing the risk of infection.
To answer this, two AP-160 air purifiers with a volume flow of up to 1350 m³/h were systematically analyzed. These devices feature a filter combination that ensures aerosol particles with diameters between 0.1 and 0.3 μm are removed from the air with 99.995% efficiency. Research conducted at Aalen University demonstrated that aerosol concentrations in a 200 m² room could be reduced to minimal levels throughout the space within a short time. From a scientific perspective, air purifiers with high volume flow rates and high-quality H13-class filters provide an effective technical solution to significantly reduce indirect aerosol infection risks in schools, offices, stores, waiting rooms, community centers, recreational spaces, and dining areas. They can also complement existing ventilation systems in buildings where people gather (e.g., waiting areas), work together, or engage in activities that produce significant aerosol emissions (e.g., fitness studios). The research findings, published in a scientific study by Prof. Michael Oberst, played a crucial role in establishing mobile air purifiers as an essential tool in combating infection risks in enclosed spaces.
PRIMOR COSMETICS
PRIMOR COSMETICS
Development, implementation, and launch of an in-store advertising campaign. The goal was to establish the Institut Karité Paris brand in the German-speaking market through effective promotional measures. To achieve this, secondary placements with high-quality product displays were designed for retail stores. Our experts developed a countertop display and a floor stand made of corrugated cardboard. These served as additional product carriers to boost on-site sales while increasing the brand's visibility in retail outlets. Our team supported the client throughout the entire supply chain, from structural development, design, artwork, production, quality control, packaging, and transportation to distribution, assembly, and stocking of the displays on-site.
Prosthetics for animals
Development of a Supply Chain for Veterinary Medicine Products
As in human medicine, total hip replacement (THR) is the most effective method in veterinary medicine for treating hip deformities (hip dysplasia) and severe osteoarthritis. This procedure eliminates joint pain and fully restores joint function. Total hip replacement can be performed on dogs weighing between 2 kg and 70 kg (from small breeds to very large dogs) and on cats. Both conventional THR solutions and dual mobility systems can be offered. The Hutzel Group in Steinenbronn, a global player in medical technology, entrusted us with establishing a robust supply chain for the production of high-quality veterinary implants in Asia and their importation into the European market. This project involved the Qualification of the Asian manufacturing facility, the Establishment of a comprehensive quality assurance (QA) system and the Development of a seamless workflow for order management and logistics. Through these efforts, we ensured a reliable supply chain capable of meeting the high standards required for veterinary medical implants.
Sinedent implant model
SINEDENT Spain…,
To illustrate the functionality and appearance of dental implants compared to bridges, it is essential to have a high-quality implant model for trade fairs and consultations. This allows surgeons to explain each step of the procedure and demonstrate the components used. The model includes a removable gingiva to expose the roots and implant fixtures, as well as a detailed representation of the implant's position within the human body. Made from high-quality PVC and metal, the dental implant model is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and durable. Its appealing design helps alleviate patients' fears and doubts about the procedure. To ensure safe transport, the model requires a representative packaging solution in the form of a functional storage bag.
DEMA, in collaboration with designers and dental professionals, managed and supervised the entire development process, from initial concept to final prototype approval. This included all necessary regulatory clearance processes to ensure compliance for introducing the products to the European market.
Our responsibilities extended to awarding production contracts, overseeing the manufacturing of the models, and managing the transportation and importation of the products from Asia to the European market.
Nivea Fragrance Dispenser
BAIERSDORF Hamburg,.
The olfactory impact on humans plays an increasingly important role in the world of marketing. BAIERSDORF sought to leverage this insight and commissioned us to develop a natural scent diffuser for the point of sale (POS). The goal was to subtly and evenly distribute the signature fragrance of NIVEA products over an extended period, positively influencing customer purchasing behavior.
For this project, we collaborated with a Spanish supplier specializing in ceramic scent carriers. These carriers effectively absorb fragrance oils and release them evenly through fine pores into the surrounding air. The natural mineral material ensures an authentic and pure scent experience.
We managed all stages of product development on behalf of the client, from concept to final approval. Components were sourced from both China and the European market, then brought together for final assembly on the display carriers in Europe.
Dunhill British Icons
Dunhill British Icons
For Procter & Gamble (P&G), one of the world’s largest consumer goods manufacturers, a complex advertising campaign was launched in 12 key countries to highlight British icons as part of the release of Dunhill’s new fragrance. DEMA successfully facilitated a collaboration with BMW and Dunhill Fragrances, securing 12 Mini Coopers to be modified to meet all necessary technical and national requirements for the project. The vehicles were meticulously customized with an extraordinary, bespoke design tailored specifically for promotional purposes. The interior and exterior aesthetics were intricately aligned with the design of the perfume bottle to create a cohesive brand experience. The vehicles were then imported and displayed in major department stores, where they were raffled off via lottery as part of the campaign. Each vehicle was handed over to the winners in a turnkey state, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience.
